"Green" to draw attention in CMIC 2012
As ¡°green¡± and ¡°low carbon¡± gain increasing attention from all walks of life, the green development in the meetings industry¡ª¡°Green Conference¡± has started to be accepted widely, so much so that all trades and professions are preoccupied with the building of an energy-conserving and environmentally-friendly society. Under this backdrop, China¡¯s meetings industry needs to take actions to move forward in a low-carbon and green way.
According to information available, in order to proactively promote the green development of China¡¯s meetings industry, the Committee of the 5th CMIC 2012 will join hands with China Green Foundation to introduce ¡°Guidance for China¡¯s Green Conferences¡±, in the hope of promoting the philosophy of green meetings and furthering its development. With respect to China Green Foundation, it is an authority in China¡¯s green development, and it has made great contributions to China¡¯ green cause during the past 30 years since its establishment.
¡°Green Meetings¡± is a concept advocating that environment-related factors needed to be considered prior to a meeting so as to reduce damages to environment as the meeting unfolds. Information goes that every single link of this convention from registration, accommodation, venue deployment, meals, site inspection, to transport has attached importance to being green and conserving energies.
During the forthcoming convention, several programs are expected to be landed in conformity with the philosophy of green development. And these activities are shown as follows: 1. The ¡°China Green Conference Award¡± will be introduced by hosts and China Green Foundation; 2. China Green Foundation will sign strategic cooperation agreements with many conference organizations on green development; 3. CMIC 2012 will be holding a grand banquet themed on ¡°Green Conference, Green China¡±, during which entertainment superstars will be invited to serve as promotion ambassador for China¡¯s green conferences, so as to appeal to the general public to further promote the philosophy of China¡¯s green meetings. 4. The convention hosts will also launch green activities surrounding China¡¯s conference industry, with a view to applying the green philosophy into daily life.
Detailed measures in line with green development are demonstrated as follows:
To begin with, green travel will be immensely advocated by hosts. The convention committee will advise attendees to reach CNCC by public transport.
Secondly, during this convention, all guests will receive materials recyclable, environmental friendly. For example, environmentally-friendly bags will supersede traditional paper bags, number of bottled water be reduced, environmentally-friendly paper cups be disseminated, and watering places be set up in the conference venue.
Thirdly, in line with the philosophy of being paperless, the digital registration and check-in system is going to be used. Meanwhile, ¡°MicroMOBO¡± will be utilized to facilitate this conference, and a wireless experience area will be spared to help guests download materials, whenever needed.
Fourthly, with regard to conference venue design and construction, materials like standard exhibition boards, LEDs, and digital indicators will be used to reduce the utilization of disposable materials.
Fifthly, even the MeetingsChina Magazine will be printed by environmentally-friendly paper to support the green philosophy.
