First Annual Conference for China Meetings and Incentives Cities Alliance

On Nov. 29th, 2012, an all-star delegation of 11 cities representatives gathered in Beijing, including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Xi¡¯an, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Kunming, Sanya, Nanjing, Xiamen, and Dalian. This gather-together contributed to the commencement of the First Annual Conference for China Meetings and Incentives Cities Alliance. Of those cities, Nanjing, Xiamen, and Dalian were new members ever since the establishment of the alliance itself.
With the goal of integrating the high-end brand markets of MICE cities, and in the principle of strengthening coalition, sharing resources, implementing each other with respective advantages, and realizing all-win goals, delegates representing Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development, Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration, Tourism Bureau of Tianjin, Xi¡¯an Tourism China, Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Exposition, Hangzhou Tourism Commission, Kunming Municipal Tourism Bureau, Sanya Municipal Commission of Tourism Development, Nanjing Tourism Gardens Bureau, Xiamen Tourism Bureau, and Dalian Tourism Bureau all expressed their individual opinions on China¡¯s MICE development at the very first annual conference for China meetings and incentives cities alliance. They also discussed heatedly regarding the future development for this alliance as well as methods for co-operation among member cities. More importantly, this convention passed with resolution A Working Plan 2013-2015 for China Meetings and Incentives Cities Alliance.
At the convention, Ms. Wang Yue, Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development, pointed out in her summarization speech, ¡°The foundation of China Meetings and Incentives Cities Alliance is anything but a decoration. Rather, it¡¯s designed to reach practical achievements regularly via communications & co-operations, resources integration, and information sharing among MICE cities.¡±
According to sources, the A Working Plan 2013-2015 for China Meetings and Incentives Cities Alliance passed during the convention includes the following three aspects. First are novel modes and methods for all member cities to learn from each other, including strategies for marketing and promotion, systems facilitating industrial development, and preferential policies towards industrial development. Next is advanced experience on how to develop MICE industry, including the experience in bidding and hosting international large conferences, ways or ideas of accessing breakthroughs in surmounting bottle-necks containing the development of MICE industry, and the like. In addition, there comes the sharing of information and resources capable of driving forward the MICE industry, including the sharing of professionals, education experience, integrated advantageous MICE resources, and of updated information on international MICE, among other things.
Notably, at the annual conference, Ms. Wang Yue also shared the working mode of ¡°Five Ones¡±(also referred to as A Government-led Promotion System for High-end MICE ) adopted by Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development, namely, one professional service organization, one set of system composed of development policies, one industrial alliance, one resources reservoir, and one professional website. Besides, Mr. Xu Jing, Director of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, Asia-Pacific Region delivered a speech named Status Quo of and Projections for International Tourism Development.
he mission of China Meetings and Incentives Cities Alliance is to optimize allocation of high-end tourism resources and form coalitions among strong players within the meetings industry, so as to build better platforms and create more opportunities through cross-region co-operations by drawing on complementary advantages, which shall finally serves to jointly enhance attractiveness and influence of China¡¯s MICE destinations. Information showed that a resolution had been passed at the Annual Conference for China Meetings and Incentives Cities Alliance, which determined that the China Meetings and Incentives Cities Alliance Summer Summit 2013 would be convened in Xi¡¯an¡ªan ancient capital full of charms. And Mr. Zhang Yongke, Director of Xi¡¯an Tourism China, already gave warm invitations to all participants to come and join the forthcoming summit.
