EUROPE UNCHALLENGED NUMBER-ONE CONGRESS DESTINATION – TOP RANK FOR AUSTRIA

Globally, the congress and incentive industry is a billion-sized economic factor. In the statistics of the two renowned global meeting associations – International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA) and Union of International Associations (UIA) – European countries and cities still rank top.
With 278 international meetings, Austria ranks eleventh among the top global congress
destinations according to the ICCA ranking 2012. Above all convention metropolis Vienna is
responsible for Austria’s excellent result on the global meeting scene. Austria’s federal
capital does not only rank top in Austria, it also ranked first for the ninth consecutive
time in the ICCA city ranking 2012, followed by Paris, Berlin, Madrid and Barcelona.
The Austrian Congress Statistics, since 2012 published by the title “Meeting Industry
Report Austria (MIRA)”,gives an overview of not only the national and international
scientific congresses but also of corporate conventions and seminars. According to MIRA
the calendar year 2012 accounted for a total of 14,082 events (+5.5% compared to the
previous year) with more than 1.3 million participants in Austria. Half of the events
were held in Vienna, the other half in the federal provinces, with Salzburg and Styria
ranking top. In total, the year 2012 generated 2.8 million overnights.

关于奥地利会议最权威的统计报告是从2012年开始出版的奥地利会议产业报告（MIRA），该报告调查的范围不仅包括国内及国际的科学性质大会，还包括企业大会及研讨会。 根据MIRA的数据，奥地利在2012年度共举办了1,4082项会议活动（比去年增加5.5%）参加人数达到一百三十万人。而其中约有一半的会议活动在维也纳举行，另一半的会议活动主要在萨尔茨堡(Salzburg)和施蒂里亚(Styria)两地进行。 这些活动总共产生了二百八十万间夜的效益。
